General Motors is a company that is constantly looking toward the future when making financial decisions. Therefore, it was hardly shocking when GM committed to an upcoming vehicle lineup populated by electric and autonomous models.

GM recently announced the latest step in this initiative involves hiring approximately 3,000 new employees to bolster its tech-centered departments.

Said jobs will span a wide array of different categories, from IT to design and engineering. The one thing that they will all have in common is their central role in accelerating the electrification and autonomous capabilities of the GM family of vehicles.

“As we evolve and grow our software expertise and services, it’s important that we continue to recruit and add diverse talent,” explained GM President Mark Reuss.

This initiative isn’t just about making the GM vehicle library more advanced. It’s also designed to help the company produce a much smaller carbon footprint and create a more eco-friendly environment.

GM recently showcased its efforts up to this point with the unveiling of the new GMC Hummer. While the previous iteration of the Hummer was a gas-guzzling model, this new Hummer is actually an electric vehicle that maintains the performance the Hummer is famous for while simultaneously providing unmatched levels of fuel economy.

With this new wave of talent on its way to join the ranks at GM, we here at the Atzenhoffer family of dealerships are excited to see what the company introduces next.
